'Sup guys, long time no see! It's been a while!
My last two posts were about my Areca Palm and my Lavendar which - update- they both died! Yay for root rot amiright? Learn from my mistakes people, pull back on the waterings.
Do something else if you're bored or want to fuss over your plants, here are some examples.
Clean the leaves: Over time, the foliage of your plants will become dusty and, depending on where they are located in the home (i.e the kitchen) they can even become greasy, eugh! Wipe those leaves down regularly using a microfiber cloth, or even a sock with a smidge of water, and a drop soap and neem oil if you're up to the challenge. Doing so cleans your plant and promotes their amazing photosynthesizing talent. I personally do not yet have any neem oil, so I just wet a cloth.
Rotate your pots: when you are used to seeing your collection every day, houseplants can quickly become part of the furniture and be forgotten about. It's important to do the rounds and just check that they are growing in the direction you want them to; turn your pots routinely to keep them growing upright.
Root check: Even harder to remember than noticing something in plain sight is noticing something that is hidden all the time. Roots that lay buried beneath the soil can become compacted and root bound, it's important to check from time to time, ideally between waterings to make sure this does not occur, I speak from personal experience, but more on that later.
There, now that you have a few suggestions to keep you from making the same mistakes I did and waterlogging your plants, let's move onto new and exciting things.
Ya' girl got a job! Friends of mine will not be shocked by this as I have been working there a couple of months now but I feel it is important to convey this to anyone else who may have stumbled onto my blog and find themselves wondering where I've been. I started this blog while I was depressed, jobless, and needed an escape from my own thoughts. Now, I am in therapy, working and honestly quite busy so I am choosing to not stick to a rigorous schedule as I find when I do, I become overburdened by deadlines and I'll have enough of those to deal with once uni starts back up again in September. I'm still going to post s often as I can, but only when I have something of value to say and not a minute sooner. I find it hard to "make up" content to talk about, so instead, I'm going to carry on with my life and post interesting topics as and when they come to me.
I am currently preparing to embark on a fun experiment with my plants. So watch this space and I'll be sure to tell you all about it.
See you soon, my darlings!
